Guidance is rebuilding as a connected operations platform for CPG brands to replace spreadsheet-based systems for purchasing, inventory, production, costing
Overview

Homepage of Guidance
Guidance is a purpose-built operations platform for CPG and food brands currently in commercial rebuild. Created by the CEO of Claros Farm after running a certified organic CPG brand on spreadsheets, the platform is designed to connect purchasing, inventory, production, COGS calculation, lot traceability, and compliance workflows into a single system with a shared data model.
The platform uses a six-layer architecture validated in a working prototype: data normalization, cost foundation, automated cost propagation, lot-level COGS, channel margin intelligence, and confidence scoring. Key capabilities under development include connected COGS modeling that shows how ingredient price changes flow through to affected SKUs, lot traceability supporting forward recall and backward traceback, multi-channel inventory visibility across warehouses and 3PLs, and MRP-driven purchasing that accounts for lead times and demand signals.
Guidance is being rebuilt with a cohort of design partners from the CPG industry. Eight planned modules—inventory, production, purchasing, fulfillment, traceability, MRP, costing, and compliance—will share the same data model so changes in one area automatically update downstream calculations. The company emphasizes operators-first design, accurate COGS over convenience, and compliance as a natural byproduct of connected operational data.
Main features
- Connected COGS model linking ingredients, freight, packaging, yield, labor, and co-packer fees
- Lot traceability supporting lot genealogy, forward and backward traceability for recall readiness
- Cost propagation showing how supplier cost changes flow through BOMs and margin analysis
- Multi-channel inventory visibility across warehouses, 3PLs, and in-transit stock by lot and SKU
- MRP and purchasing accounting for lead times, MOQs, demand signals, and production requirements
- Conversational setup turning operational structure into configuration blueprint
- Confidence scoring distinguishing confirmed inputs from estimates
- Channel margin analysis by SKU and sales channel including distributor deductions
- Lot-level actual COGS using production evidence including yield variance and recorded deviations
- Automated distributor deduction normalization for UNFI, KeHE, and other channels

Questions
What happens during a big seasonal push like Q4?
Under the current proposal, tiering would use a trailing three-month activity average rather than one month so a temporary seasonal spike does not immediately change a tier. Seasonal-spike and credit rules are still being evaluated and are not final commercial terms.
Can I add my bookkeeper, co-packer, and 3PL without paying more?
The current pricing intent is to avoid per-seat charges so operational partners can collaborate without additional cost. The final user and access policy will be published before launch.
What if the AI generates a bad output and I have to retry?
The target policy is to make qualifying retries free within a defined window when an AI output fails or requires immediate regeneration. The exact window and eligibility rules will be finalized before commercial launch.
Can you change the point weights after I sign up?
The current proposal includes advance notice and a transition period before point-weight changes take effect. The notice period is a target policy, not a current contractual commitment.
Why show prices if they are not final?
The prices shown represent the company's goals and what they are building toward. If cost structure forces adjustments before launch, changes will be communicated directly to everyone who signed up before anything is published publicly.
