How does the billboard ranking work?
The billboard is a paid leaderboard separate from community votes. Contributions in US dollars determine your listing's position.

Paid ranking, clearly marked
The billboard operates as its own leaderboard at /leaderboards/billboard. It ranks company profiles by total money contributed by their owners. The page displays this explicitly: every listing shown is marked as part of a paid ranking. This leaderboard sits alongside other boards under Leaderboards.
How contributions accumulate
You decide the contribution amount in US dollars. The minimum is $5. Each contribution you make adds to your listing's total. The board orders listings by cumulative contributions, highest first. Once you have contributed, your listing remains on the billboard.
Adding a contribution
From your account you can contribute once your listing is live. Sign in, navigate to /account/listings, find your listing and select "Upgrades and extras". Enter your chosen amount under Billboard. You may also add a contribution at the plan step when you file a new listing.
Distinct from other systems
The billboard does not purchase votes. It does not alter the community leaderboard, Launch of the Week results or any other ranking on the site. Community votes, the billboard, verification status and Domain Rating each operate independently, and each is labelled accordingly. Promo codes do not apply to billboard contributions.
A link that stays
Contributing gives your company a followed link (no nofollow) to its website from /leaderboards/billboard, with your company name as the anchor. We keep it for life, wherever you rank. It comes off only if the listing is taken down for breaking our rules or the contribution is refunded.
